The VUE5 process started a few years ago, when I found an old standup electric keyboard in my parents garage. Battered & dusty, I found a universal power cord for it at a Radioshack and brought it to my then-apartment in west Harlem. So began an ongoing creative process.
Fast forward a few years, I’ve been ‘making beats’ and working on songs with no agenda other than to fuel a desire to create and [ultimately] share with others. In that time, we’ve also formed a band — a trio with keys, vocals, guitar (@ianrockmore), and drums (@jacknieman88). We performed for a small crew earlier this winter, and there is some cool stuff in store for 2019.
In this time, I’ve also looked for a sense of purpose behind VUE5. Core values of this ‘brand’ or ‘movement’ (whatever it can be called at this stage), and I kept coming back to this miracle planet we inhibit. Nature is essential and beautiful, and it has served as great inspo here on many levels. Say what you will about the digital age we live in, but with the platforms we now have for sharing content and information, I’ve found many organizations doing an inspirational job of giving back. Three of which VUE5 will support through any proceeds generated going forward (merch in ‘19!):
Sea Legacy (@sealegacy)
The Lonely Whale (@lonelywhale)
Care For Wild (@careforwild)
Whether through amazing photography of wild environments bringing awareness to key issues, movements to cut back on harmful materials, or assisting severely injured animals, these organizations are all about giving back to environments that cannot speak for themselves. Until VUE5 can be similarly impactful, we will support those setting the tone, while also hopefully providing some cool sounds for people to vibe to.
